The Ancient Art of Bleeding with Susan Johnson, L.Ac. The Ancient Art of Bleeding is a cross-cultural modality used from time immemorial, in ancient Egypt, India, the Middle East and throughout all of Asia. In Chinese medicine, bleeding is commonly referred to as: pricking bleeding, micro-puncture, triangular needling or simply, blood-letting. This class is designed to explore:
- the origins of blood-letting
- different styles and forms of bleeding
- sterile technique and safety concerns
- a wide variety of points that are bled for common ailments
Goals & Objectives:
- Describe a brief history of blood-letting
- List seven primary functions attributed to blood-letting
- List four different methods of bleeding
- Describe five different implements of bleeding
- Demonstrate proper sterile technique
- Recite eight reasons not to bleed

About the Instructor
Susan Johnson, L.Ac.
Susan Johnson has been studying acupuncture since 1982. A graduate of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Susan practiced in San Francisco from 1983-88, specializing in the treatment of HIV. She studied Master Tung's Magic Points with Dr. Miriam Lee and Dr. Young Wei Chieh, Ph.D. for more than 12 years and has used them nearly exclusively in her practice for thirty years. In addition to acupuncture, Susan's practice incorporates all types of TCM techniques including cupping, bleeding, moxa, and qi gong and she shares her knowledge through live seminars and instructional videos. Susan is a dynamic teacher renowned for her clear presentation of acupuncture and TCM methods. |
